Description

The Problem-Based Learning for College Physics website provides high-quality, context-rich problem-based learning (PBL) activities for physics teachers in the college network.

PBL is a pedagogical approach that enables students to learn from meaningful, real-life situations. In PBL, students can understand the realistic context presented to them and work in small groups. PBL requires students to break down tasks and share skills. The problems are designed to allow them to reflect and work together to better understand the material.

The PBL in Classroom page describes the assignment of roles within a team and the three-step cycle for approaching and solving problems.

The site has a number of references for learning more about PBL and other approaches to problem solving.

Developing PBL problems takes time. Teachers who would like to contribute to developing the site can submit PBL problems to the CCDMD. Under the Submit a Problem tab, they will find rules for writing a PBL problem, a problem submission guide, and submission forms.
