The Centre collégial de développement de matériel didactique is Publisher of print and digital teaching materials available throughout the Quebec college network
History
The CCDMD was founded in 1993 following a major revamping of the Direction générale de l’enseignement collégial (directorate of college education) in Quebec. It was previously a division of the ministère de l’Éducation, called the Service de développement de matériel didactique (department for educational materials development), whose role was to provide educational, technical, and financial support to college teachers wishing to produce quality printed or computer-based educational material. When its administration was transferred to Collège de Maisonneuve in 1993, it became the CCDMD.
The center is funded mainly by the ministère de l’Enseignement supérieur. Since 2005, some of its services are also supported by funding from the Canada-Quebec Agreement for Minority Language Education and Second Language Instruction.
Mandate
The CCDMD’s mandate is to ensure that teaching staff and the student community of the Quebec college network have access to innovative and high-quality educational materials in French and English.
In this context, the CCDMD produces materials for a wide variety of study programs as well as resources promoting academic success and the improvement of French or English.
Most of the resources produced by the CCDMD are the result of collaboration with hundreds of authors working in all college institutions across the province, thus ensuring the relevance and quality of the materials produced.
Staff from public and private college institutions wishing to collaborate with the CCDMD to design educational materials are invited to respond to its annual call for projects.
Services
In addition to contributing to the enrichment of educational resources offered to CEGEP students, the CCDMD supports the college network by:
- Making hundreds of educational resources available for all college disciplines
- Offering a bank of copyright-free media for the education sector
- Providing a vast repertoire of French language resources recognized throughout the Francophonie
- Facilitating exchanges between those responsible for French help centers through the Intercaf
